Organisational change and innovation are inevitable in a business. However, as businesses grow and employees get habituated to technology, processes, and people that influence their everyday activities, they become comfortable (Kotter, 2014). This explains why during the times for organisational shift, some employees or groups become apprehensive and resentful, resulting in resistance to change and the possible failure of the change process. In most cases, resistance or failed organisational change is attributable to the implementation approach which may overlook particular principles specific to individuals, groups, processes or organisations. The case study demonstrates that for an effective change process, the leadership needs to implement a well-thought-out approach that takes the intricacy of change into account to stabilise conceivable barriers. This paper is organised into two parts; Part 1 provides the key elements of effective change management, and Part 2 provides a critical reflection and analysis of typical cases of change management from my experience.
