In her introduction to Crash, Zadie Smith writes: “Crash is a book about how everybody uses everything. How everything uses everybody.”
What does she mean? Why does it matter?

Zadie statement means that despite the dangers that are posed by technological, social and political elements in today’s world people do not see the danger, but moves towards it subsequently using the any tools or mechanisms that are presented to them. She further states that “How everything uses everybody” to mean that despite humans having more intellectual capacity than technology, they have let technology dominate the world.  For instance, Ballard introduces Crash by stating, “The marriage of reason and nightmare that has dominated the 20th century has given birth to an ever more ambiguous world.
