Lying at the heart of Los Angel metropolitan is La Brea Tar Pits and museum where some of the most famous fossil and paleontological collections are found. Since I visited the museum, I am more knowledgeable about some animals that existed millions of years ago. I can also easily trace the evolution path of some animals that live today and also know whey others become extinct. The newly named La Brea Museum has many fossils from different eras and epochs. They include fossils of mammoths, dire wolves and saber-toothed cats from more than 50,000 years asphalt deposits. I also had the opportunity to study the processes of paleontology as they happen. It is a daily activity at La Brea Tar Pits and museum’s glass Fossil Lab, volunteers and scientist prepare fossils including some of the most recently discovered fossils of “Zed,” – a male Columbian mammoth (McNassor, 2011).
