Alzheimer’s disease, normally referred to as the Alzheimer’s, is one of the most common forms of dementia. Dementia is a condition of the brain, whereby an individual progressively loses their intellectual abilities and social skills. The brain cells of a person with Alzheimer’s tend to degenerate and die, resulting in a decline in the memory and the mental function of the individual. Over the years, Alzheimer’s disease has often been associated with age, with the most common incidences of dementia being reported in aging individuals of 65 years and older (Alzheimer’s Association, 2011).
