Answer preview

To many Americans, the 1970s is commonly referred to as the loser decade, the decade that had not so much going for it, but just had the hangovers and the excesses of the 1960s. The 1970s also marked a time of disillusionment of the people after the loss in the Vietnam War, which was the first war America ever lost. Most turbulent events ended in the year 1968, and that is the time when the great post-war economy ran its course. The 1970s also heralded the shifts in political powers from the northeast and Midwest, to the southern parts of the country.
