Answer preview

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is considered a chronic, complex, and heterogeneous neurodevelopmental human disorder with cardinal behavioral features that include developmentally inappropriate hyperactivity, inattention, and impulsivity levels (Sarver, Rapport, Kofler, Raiker, & Friedman, 2015). Hyperactivity in ADHD is a reflection of multifaceted construct spanning a spectrum of physical and verbal behaviors, with excessive gross motor movement that forms a major component evident in the condition’s explicit inclusion in four hyperactivity symptoms among the six DSM-5 symptoms. Although it was not the first time for the disease to be noted in the clinical background, the disorder entered properly in public knowledge in 1902, when a pediatrician in London, Dr. George Still, presented expressive lectures by first viewing ADHD as a viral encephalitis (Hanna, 2009).
