In 2016, McDonald’s raised some of the employees’ wages by 10% and also added benefits such as paid vacation for employees. It is clear that this change has increased the average hourly wage from $9.01 to $9.90 for employees working in the company’s owned restaurants. The company expects the average hourly wage for those employees to surpass $10 by the end of 2016. Furthermore, the company will also start giving employees five days of fully paid vacation to employees who have worked for one year.
