All men of all races and age groups are at risk of suffering from chronic prostatitis, although older men are at higher risk. The condition has a prevalence rate of 1.8% to 8% for males of all races and ages, with the highest prevalence being among the elderly men. The worldwide prevalence of chronic nonbacterial prostatitis or chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS) has been 2-16%.  The majority of chronic prostatitis shows symptoms such as ejaculatory pain, recurrent urinary tract infections, and a deferent duct obstruction of varying manifestations and degrees.
