Modern civilization has a corrupting influence on human behavior hence, virtues and morality have been significantly eroded with time. In this case alignment to modern civilization can be explained through transformation in culture and general lifestyle. Jean-Jacques Rousseau argued that indeed, civilization had the illuminating effect of bridging between the dark ages and modernity, for this case, modern civilization therefore, acts as a bridge that links individual perceptions to the overall adjustments of life. However, civilization has led to corruption of behaviour especially morality hence this thesis will argue in defence of the statement. One of the most compelling reasons for this statement lies in the observations made about in regards to virtues and morality.
