When communicating, a sender encodes his or her message and then uses a communication channel to transmit it. The receiver will receive this message, decode it, and then determine how to react to it before giving feedback (Greenberg, 2010). According to Elving (2005), the purpose of organizational communication is to use existing networks and departments to facilitate understanding between workers as well as different internal and external organizational departments. This means that employees have to be able to communicate efficiently not just with each other, but also with their managers, supervisors, and trade union leaders.
