The reading on conflict theory puts in perspective the struggles faced by African Americans. In reality, the fact that they are black is not the real issue, the issue is the fact that they really do not belong to America, but they have been Americanized by force through slavery and then freedom. The blacks have then been forced to merge their two different identities (Bartos, Otomar & Wehr, 35).
