How would you explain American Federalism?

American Federalism is in simple terms how authority and different functions are divided between the national government and in different state governments. The above is just the basic definition otherwise American federalism is very wide in its meaning especially as time advances. Federalism is meant to bring the idea of different limitations and divisions of power, in order to ensure that even national government has enough power to carry out certain tasks but still it is limited in a way that it cannot become a threat to liberty. In fact federalism even plays a huge role in promoting national unity because when power is divided, different states and national governments must work together to complete certain tasks. American federalism works well and hand in hand with the American democratic form of government which makes the division of power easy following the constitutional laws.
