Resistance arises when individuals try to withstand perceived trials to threaten freedom of choice (Teo, 2015). In modern society, resistance can be explained through social support or Locus of control. The former works on the basis that people can resist the pressure to conform or obey once somebody else is supporting their opinion. In that context they consider to have the backing of another person; hence they become resistant (Teo, 2015). It becomes practically possible for such people to build confidence and grow independent. On the other hand, Locus of Control explores the concept whereby a person considers the perception of their personality to be in control of their behaviour.
