Having a well formulated breastfeeding policy did not guarantee similar relevance in practice and conformity to the NACNS) Adult-Gero Core Competencies and HP2020 goals. As early breastfeeding is becoming a concern in the New York as a normative maternal care, this paper suggest s possible change in policy components and implementation to ensure that breastfeeding rate increases after one year of the practice.  By adhering to Collaborative Competency, Direct Care Competency and the system Leadership Competency, the policy would meet its objectives in the short-term and long-term contexts
