Research studies have revealed that one of the human activities contributing to global warming is dumping of organic material which normally decomposes with time generating a remarkable quantity of landfill gas (LFG). Approximately 50% of landfill gas (LFG) is methane which is considered to be the green house gas that leads to global warming. It is clear that methane is of specific concern since the gas entraps heat in the environment with a consequence twenty times bigger than that of carbon dioxide which is a bigger contributor of worldwide climate change.
