This article is related to the weekly concept on economics as it focuses on the provision of names in academic research undertaken by more than a single author within economics. The article points out that the norm is the use of alphabetical order and this fails to signify the contribution of each of the authors as individual whose names are up in the alphabet might not be acknowledged. The authors therefor, present the fundamental question of the importance of the name. The article further provides a suggestion of having names being given in random as a way of maintaining the advantage of the current systems which enhancing the aspect of fairness in the presentation of names of authors. The authors perceive this is a better way of providing names of authors for future economic research articles.
