What are some factors that can make false memories more likely to occur? Do people with certain traits have a higher propensity to have false memories?

A false memory, simply put, is a recollection of events in a distorted and fabricated manner. Even though the normal practice is for people to believe that their memories are at all times accurate, this is not always the case. A false memory, therefore, is a mental experience whereby people mistakenly believe that their version of particular happenings are accurate. It is a psychological phenomenon where individuals recall an even that did not actually happen (Wang, 2018). In certain instance, the false memory could be held by numerous individuals. False memories could either be minor or serious in nature.
