A functional conflict is the type of conflict that will eventually bring about positive results for all parties involved in the conflict when it is resolved. An example is given where a lady we can call Susie wants to purchase a plot of land. The land is surrounded by a certain community, where Susie hopes she could develop townhouses for sale. The plot is offered for sale to Susie, but the conflict arises where there is an issue with the usage of land. The community council thinks that townhouses will not be suitable for the community and because it would bring additional costs and burden of kids. Susie understands and wants a win-win situation to happen.
