Answer preview

Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is an autoimmune disease that affects peripheral nervous and is usually triggered by processes of acute infections (Pithadia & Kakadia, 2010). GBS affects respiratory, movement, and sensibility functions of human body because peripheral nerves are used for conveying body-to-brain sensory information, such as temperature and pain, and brain-to-body motor information signals for movement. Most common GBS is acute inflammatory demylinating polyneuropathy (AIDP), and the less frequent ones include acute motor and sensory axonal neuropathy (AMSAN), acute motor axonal neuropathy (AMAN), and cranial nerve variant miller syndorme (MFS).
