Answer preview
Tobacco smoking is the current health issue that impacts the Indigenous Australian, even after the 19th century colonization. Indigenous Australians still suffer the consequences of the 19th century colonization, which is something that has in turn reduced their life expectancy considering that the smoking habits introduced to both men and women (Eaton, 2017). During the 19th century, in order for the colonists to negotiate, coerce, or pacify, or appease the Aboriginal society they used tobacco to their advantage. However, before the coming of the colonists, aboriginal communities used to chew on native tobacco, which did not have a major impact on their health (Australian Human Rights Commission, 2005).
