Discuss the History of Witchcraft

Answer preview

Witchcraft is seen as a straightforward phrase but with a deep history and meaning. The concept of witchcraft has stretched over an extended period, and it spreads all over the globe. The concept was first known in the 560 B.C. when the Old Testament in the Bible condemned witches (Klaniczay 188-212). In most satires, fantasies, and fairy tales, witches have usually been portrayed time and again as versatile synonyms for transgression and evil. In the 16th and 17th centuries, men and women of both the low and high status had great belief in witchcraft. This was evident in Lord chief justice Anderson statement who noted in 1602 that their land had been inhabited by many witched in different areas (Cline).
