The Catholic Reformation came from the religion of Christians and was aimed at going against the protestant reformation and was looking forward to internal renewal. The need for reformation came out of the criticism of the popes who had policies and attitudes devoted to the material world instead of focusing on the gospel. The catholic Reformation changed many things after Pope Paul iii who is referred to as the pope of Counter-Reformation went to convene the council of Trent and made changes after coming up with a doctrine that contained a lot of laws some that were to go against the Protestant Reformation teachings and others the Lutheran practices. The doctrine also came with some disciplinary forms that went against the corruption of the clergy and taught good values of the priesthood. The Catholic reformation developed more spiritual roots and people from that era became more educated and literate.
