Discuss the concept of Hypothesis Testing.

Answer preview

Hypotheses are assumptions made about parameters in a given population. Ideally, a census on the whole population should be done to prove or disprove the assumptions, but this is not always practical especially in large populations due to time and resources constraints. A portion of the population can be randomly selected to represent the whole population. Statistical tests can performed to test whether the assumption hold based on data from the sample. Results from the statistical test will inform one whether to accept or reject the null hypothesis.
