Answer preview
The status of Shelly at the university is an employee, considering the amount of control that the university has over her actions. Additionally, a recent decision by the National Labor Relations Board, determined that graduate scholars that labor as research assistants and teachers at private universities can be referred to as employees. The board further cleared the way for the graduate students for them to join or even for unions that the university administrators have to recognize.
