Before the Gulf war that saw the invasion of the United States in Iraq, different countries in the Gulf region were trying to negotiate on platforms of enhancing peace within the region, but Iraq’s President Saddam Hussein was unwavering in his mission. Hussein kept on claiming that Kuwait was part of Iraq in addition to the fact that Kuwait was siphoning more crude oil in their common border. In 1990, Hussein began preparing his troops to attack Kuwait and established military camps along Kuwait border. Eventually, Hussein ordered his troops to attack Kuwait in August, 1990 with the assumptions other Arabian nations will support his move. Furthermore, Hussein had the assumptions that other Arabs Nations will not seek outside support. Nonetheless, Arabs, nations, the United States and European countries condemned that attack and called for the withdrawal of Iraq from Kuwait (Smith, 2010).
