Reactive aggression also known as hostile aggression is performed by an individual as a kind of response or retaliation due to provocation. Once an individual has been provoked, they are more likely to reactive aggressively due to negative effects posed by other individuals or the environment, hence not a predictor of any kind of anti social behavior. This means that reactive aggression is associated with increased levels of unhappiness or sadness (Fite, Stoppelbein & Greening, 2009). For example, there was a time I was driving to school when someone hit me from behind and upon politely confronting him, he chanted some racist words that saw me engaging my physical and emotional being to start a fight. In addition to hitting me, he reversed back his car, continued with his journey, and even threatened to shoot me if I continued to pursue him. Out of anger, I found myself chasing him with the aim of hitting his car, which clearly shows that this was reactive aggression.
