During the visit to the La museum, I was able to learn more about the Pronghorn antelope. The antelope in question is not an actual antelope but belongs to a family of itself, that is, the Antilocapridae, and is only available in North America. I also learned that Pronghorn antelope is the only North American game that possessed branched horns. It was also surprising to know that the horns have an outer sheath with modified hair whose function is to cover the permanent bony core. More surprising is the fact that the outer hollow sheath would be shed off each year during the months of November or October and bring forth a new set during the month of July.
