The museum has a vast collection and apart from the impressive collection of contemporary art pieces of the various races and other groups of people it has the fossils of the extinct species. The museum has several exhibits and the visitors are accorded a unique chance with a front row to view the process of paleontology evolving. In the museum it emerged that the interpretation of fossils was usually based on an individual’s understanding at the time of the discovery. With time views change especially due to technological advancements about ascertaining facts from fiction. For example when the long-necked Mamenchisaurus was mounted in the museum for the first time the scientists had not found its skull. Instead what was mounted was the head of a dinosaur who was then believed to be close relative. New research indicated that the creatures were not as closely related as it was believed (Bushell 2005).
