    Mary Barra happens to be an American corporate leader who was born in 1961 in Michigan, USA (The News Wheels, 2017). Barra is a Bachelor of Science-electrical engineering graduate of Kettering University. She later advanced her studies and undertook professional engineering studies at Tau Beta Pi. Additionally, she graduated from Stanford Graduate School of Business with a Master’s in Business Management in 1990. Her first career path started at General Motors in 1980 while she was 18 years (The News Wheels, 2017). She mainly checked fender panels and inspected hoods. She rose through the ranks to hold several engineering and clerical jobs, including heading Detroit Assembly Plant. In 2008, she became an assistant general manager at Global Manufacturing Engineering, and she would later (2009) advance to become the deputy global human resources manager (Forbes, 2019). Mary’s meteoric rise saw her become the executive vice president of Global Productive Development at GM.  Her responsibilities broadened and she became a central figure in the Global Purchasing and Supply Chain in 2013. She was appointed the company’s chairperson and CEO in 2014, becoming the first woman to head a vehicle manufacturing firm (Forbes, 2019).
