Motivating Employees to Improve their Morale

Instructions

A medium sized accounting firm has recently appointed a new CEO who has made significant changes to the company in the short time that she has been there (approximately three months). Many of the managers are not happy with the changes and this has led to high staff turnover with employees leaving the company to go work elsewhere. The new CEO has a leadership style that could be best described as task driven and goal-oriented with little or no input from surbodinates. Discuss what alternative approaches could be used to improve morale within this company in order to retain staff. Use two relevant leadership theories to support your answer.

Based on the given case scenario, the changes that the new chief executive officer introduced since she came to the firm three months ago have been unpopular with the other people in the organizations. This may be attributed to the fact that the new CEO does not entertain input from her subordinates, yet she wants the goals she sets to be achieved. The CEO can motivate the remaining employees and attract talented one, by adopting a more inclusive leadership style which puts the employees at the center of the business operations (Temminck et al., 2013; McRae and John, 1992, p. 175).
