The sand dollar is believed to have been pushed to the mountain during the movement of plates where the sea floors were pushed and made into mountains and later eroded. According to Jennifer Kennedy (2017), sand dollars are from a family known as the echinoderms which also houses the sea stars, sea urchins and the sea cucumbers. The exhibit is a therefore, a good starting point to help the paleontologists or the students to learn more about the echinoderms. Kennedy ( 2017), goes on to explain that the sand dollars are made up of many species which includes; the common sand dollar, the sand dollar found on the pacific or the western, the sand dollar that is a sea biscuit and the keyhole sand dollars. In this case the one in the exhibit seems to have the same appearances as the pacific sand dollar.
