Answer preview

My Body Politic is a memoir by Simi Linton, who provides insights into the barriers that disabled people have to go through in order to fully participate in life. The book takes the reader on a journey that started with three people traveling to Washington to protest demonstration of the Vietnam War and finishing with the aftermath of the events that occurred. Linton, her husband, and her best friend are out there to support a cause they believe in, but, unfortunately, it only leads to the tragic end of the male spouse and friend. However, the tragedy does not end there as Linton’s legs are paralyzed, something that eventually results in her disability. It is when her ideas about disability evolve. The rest of her story enlightens the reader on the life such individuals lead, the way they think, and the way the society views them.
