Network security has been breached in in several instance affecting information communication and data communication. According to a report by Hawkins (2015), theft of credit card information has increased with the Target data theft and Home data depot being the latest known cases. In September 2014, Home Depot reported a network security breach on its network that affected the electronic payment system. Data communication through networks has to be regulated to prevent such security breaches. Security programs such as SANS network security resources, firewalls, secure VPNs are being developed to enhance intrusion detection and monitoring of networks. More secure methods of network security in communication are being developed to ensure end to end encryption of communications. This will prevent sniffing and phishing of data. Network security course is a key requirement in my profession because the demand for cyber security experts is high. Network security knowledge will restore the integrity of electronic data communications in the world.
