As a new nurse, my values and strengths lie in the fact that I am aware that supporting the health of a patient requires mutual respect, trust, and compassion. I am aware of the responsibility to create an environment that is honest and trustworthy, and one that makes the clients feel their privacy is respected (Yilmaz, 2016). By acting fast enough, I am able to get the client out of the discomfort and pain that they might have endured for quite some time, and this is largely due to the application of the professional standards that I learn as a new nurse.
When patients do not feel respected or safe, they are bound to cut off communication. They will even ignore making follow-ups on treatment. It is important to demonstrate respect for the confidentiality of the patient, as well as identify ethical issues that are likely to come up during the care process (Liaw, 2017).
