Is there a particular leadership style or approach that is more effective than others, across a wide range of situations in modern organizations? Getting people to function effectively is one of the vital functions of leaders. An organization’s success is driven by the way people in it are engaged. Leaders have a responsibility of ensuring that the mission, vision, objectives, and goals of an organization are integrated in everyday activity within the firm. Such components create a platform from which leaders can build concepts on in enforcing effectiveness of employees in term of commitment, dedication, and willingness. Although operating in different industrial settings, leaders need to understand how their styles and approaches define the nature of development, focus and attainment organizational goals. Organizational beliefs and culture, such as openness, authenticity, pro-action, confrontation, trust, collaboration and autonomy, are shaped by leadership styles applied (Sharma & Sharma, 2010, p. 97). Formation and functionality of teams can be influenced by leadership approaches applied. Considering the vastly transitioning markets, leaders need to understand how different leadership styles or approaches fit in different contexts.
