The idea of the supremacy of the parliament is defined by the Commonwealth Constitution which governs Australia. In starting this discussion, this author agrees with the assertion that the Australian Commonwealth parliament has the right to make or unmake any law applicable in the land; and, further to that, that no person, agency or institution is recognised by the law of Australia as having a right or power to override or set aside the legislation of Parliament (Igot, Rezsohazy, and Hulst, 2007).
