The poem has a simple theme well spoken about in the three stanzas. The idea of life is easy to understand and the author makes it easy for the reader to see him or herself through the lines. Yet, it is not easy to pinpoint the person speaking in the poem. The author’s voice does not direct towards his or her persona. From the beginning to the end, the poem exhibits a strong message that one can copy as advice to apply in day-to-day living. The poem has been put in a present continuous context. This is an important feature because every reader can relate to the message by reflecting on his or her current life. In case, it was done in the past tense perhaps some readers could have interpreted it as a story being told from the past. Likewise, using future tense could be hard to relate to the ideas presented. The audience can thus embrace the message to correct their mistakes and maybe improve on some decisions too as the author says “Always look forward, to what is ahead”.
