Project management involves activities that start and end within a predefined timeline after delivering the intended change. In general terms, the purpose of a project is to solve an existing problem or take advantage of existing opportunities. The distinctiveness of activities is what determines whether the project delivers the intended results to the client or beneficiaries. A standard project involves five phases (project initiation, planning, implementation, control, and closure). These phases are executed in a structured manner to ensure that the project manager and the teams deliver results within the budget and scope limits. The process undertaken from the beginning to the end of the project is referred to as the project life cycle. The purpose of this document is to provide a presentation with insights to project management stakeholders on what project lifecycle entails and the activities involved.

3.0 Project Execution Phase

The execution phase is the fragment of the project lifecycle upon which deliverables are generated and executed. The execution phase begins with the approval of the plan and the assembling of necessary resources. As such, the project execution process should conform to the correct project plan. In definition, project execution is the undertaking of planned activities that results in the generation of project deliverables.  The execution process, therefore, follows the framework provided in the project plan which acts as a guiding framework for reference by all members. During the execution processes, the teams must incessantly monitor the performance of the project against the project plan.
