For the Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal peoples, simply known as the indigenous people, the colonial history in Australia is filled with violence, overt racism, and devastating land dispossession (Reconciliation Australia, 2016). However, since the formation of Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation (CAR) in the last 25 years, there has been remarkable progress in Australia towards attainment of national reconciliation between the indigenous people and other Australian communities. Reconciliation has not only helped in prompting achievements and benefits from offering equality and equity on rights of Australians in general, but also brought the benefits of endorsing desegregated symbolism and practical actions.
