Drug supply is the most risky process in which counterfeiters take advantage of to bring generic pharmaceuticals in the markets. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (2005), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has put on measures in the improvement of security and safety of the country’s drug supply through encouragement of Radio-frequency identification (RFID), a state-of-the-art technology with capability of tagging packaging electronically. The FDA requires manufacturers and distributors to cooperate in being more precise in tracking drug products across the supply chain. Importance of integrating the RFID in the drug supply is to sustain authenticity while creating electronic pedigree whereby the timely recording of drug from their manufacturing level to the expiry, if not consumed within the given period, leads to quick identification and dispensing.
