Irredentist and secession movements are undoubtedly two of the biggest security threats of our epoch, threatening not just national but international security as well, the extent of which is as wide spread as human civilization upon the surface of the earth. These movements have seriously challenged the concept of nationalism, considered to be the current historical stage in the transformational history of states as states have moved from monarchical forms of governments to ones considered as national and popular ones. These movements have questioned the idea that existing states and societies are homogenous in nature.
