Answer preview

The common definition of self-determination is that individuals with common cultural and political organization have the civil right to territory and self-government. Self determination is the privilege of individuals to have control over such individual’s way of life. However, for the indigenous populace this has not been the case and indigenous people still state their desire to be independent (Sanders, 2002). The Australians government has constantly been opposed to acknowledgment of aboriginal’s populace privilege to self determination and the same has mainly been based on simplistic and legally inaccurate, presumptions that present self-determination as merely symbolic (Corntassel & Holder, 2008).
