Instructions: Students are required to choose one of the following films relating to the first 6 weeks of the course and construct an analysis of one scene. Drawing on the genre theory covered in lectures and tutorials, students will use their knowledge of the genre to investigate how the scene of their choice does some or all of the following:
• Utilizes specific character conventions that adhere to genre
• Construct specific mise en scene conventions that adhere to genre.
• How it attempts to subvert or revise any of these genre conventions.
This analysis must be focused on the scene only, although reference to the scene within wider structures within the film or television show as a whole is acceptable (ie, the narrative/aesthetic conventions of this scene are the culmination of these series of factors within the film that conform to the genre).

There are a number of character conventions that make an adherence to genre. The key amongst all these is the fact that this is a comedy and the genre maintains as it is. The character here who is Chu is capable of doing something which can also be termed as sarcastic and comical as well. Who can ever imagine that a ball can be kicked in that manner (Barsam & Dave, Pp. 32-42). Who can again imagine the goalkeeper in the whole scene making saves by the use of the stomach. In the first place, which sport will this eve be termed to be yet it is showing a character of football but then what purely happens is something that is really above the natural. We expect that nature must always prevail but then the comedy in this is seen through doing something that is beyond the natural by the characters in the scene here. This is a very touching scene and it is certain that a good number of common movie viewers can never forget such a comical thing that took place in this movie as such. The theory of genre expects that a character will always make sure that the movie retains the line of thought and specification all through; this is a clear achievement from the scene that is presented in this case.
