Social Darwinism refers to the theory that human factions and races are subject to similar laws of selection as perceived in animals and plants in nature. The theory asserts that social progress results from conflict in which the best or fittest adapted people or entire societies have the ability to prevail. Hence, Social Darwinism is an appliance of the doctrines of natural variety to political, social and economic issues (Rigney, 2001). The theory was utilized in the 19th century to promote the notion that the white European race was dominant than any other races; and hence, they were destined to rule over them (Indigenous, 2018).
