The events in the current world turn out to offer mixed reactions about people’s sexuality. A section of the population propagates sexuality discrimination towards a group of people who are inclined towards particular sexual orientation. Therefore, this class of people has always had a dislike for those people that have a sexual orientation that is different from theirs (Venzo, 2013). Digital space has come in handy when trying to create equality that embraces all people regardless of their sexuality. Specific online movements have been formed to instrumentally address issues relating to homophobia that is threatening to cause a rift in the world’s population especially when it comes to sexual orientation (Cannon et al., 2017). The moderators of the online movements have formed these online platforms to encourage people to share their stories in a bid to enhance support and give hope to those in similar situations. Through such a move, it would be essential to consider the fact that gays and lesbians come out openly to encourage each other and devise ways that could be embraced to support their activities (Billings et al., 2015).
The #ItGetsBetter campaign has been a revolutionary movement that has been instrumental in addressing various issues that surround the LGBT youth. The moderator of the campaign Dan Savage had particular objectives when launching the campaign; first, the project was to encourage gay and lesbian youths to come out and explore the world freely (Hasson, 2014). The society has different views about homosexuality; hence, individuals in this group are viewed with some contempt. A majority of the society does not hold homosexuality in high esteem; thus, homosexuals always remain in the closet in a bid to avoid public condemnation.
