The movie ‘American Gangster stars Denzel Washington as the criminal and drug seller Frank Lucas, and Russell Crowe, as ‘Richie Roberts, who is a Newark Detective, among others. Frank Lucas inherits Ellsworth Johnson’s crime empire in Harlem after the former dies of a heart attack. Even though he becomes rich and powerful as the leader of an international crime syndicate, he now has to contend with disgruntled crime figures like Nicky Barnes and Domonic Cattano who are jealous of his influence and profits, and corrupt NYPD policemen like Nick Trupo.
