Sustainability Issues in a Leisure and Tourism Settings

Instructions

Students will undertake a Self-Guided field trip (Place: Singapore Marina Barrage) to examine issues of sustainability in a leisure and tourism setting. The aim of the Field Trip is to provide students with a rich series of experiences about tourism, recreation, and leisure management issues. On the field trip, students will talk with residents and professionals involved in the management of tourism and leisure activities.

Students should keep a Field Notebook on the day of their Field Trip and should update and amend that notebook in the days immediately following the Field Trip (while the experience is fresh in your mind). This practice will help you in writing your field report.

You will have several weeks after the field trip to choose two key problems or issues that interested you and that you would like to further explore in the Field Trip Report. You should then seek about deepening your understanding of these two key problems/issues through further reading and research and write and submit a short (1500 words) individual written report on 1 Jan 2016. As part of this report, you need to include a 250 words reflection on your overall field trip learning experience.
