Chinese culture has a distinctively collective nature. Collectivism is worth their attention in that not only it directs their daily behaviors but is also the cornerstone for their domestic and foreign policies, political decisions, and economic development strategies.

According to Wang, (2016)

“It is reflected in our daily language.  We Chinese do not say “my country”; it is always “our country”.  Country, guo-jia, is made up of two characters: “state” and “home”.  Our country is home for all of us.  And “all of us”, wo-men-da-jia, contains four characters: we the big family.  “We” and “our” are much preferred to “I” and “my” in our daily communications.” (P.1)

The way the Chinese have their meals is also indicative.  Family members, guests, or friends eat from the same pots, take what is given, and share everything there is, be it plentiful or scant.  The on-going poverty alleviation program for the 80 million people in absolute poverty is a good case in point.  The Chinese government vowed that no one would be left out in the course of the national crisis. The poverty-stricken people are known as “our brothers and sisters” or “one of us”, corporations, civil and charity organizations, trade and industry association, etc., are all eager and willing to lend a hand.
