Guided Response: Review several of your colleagues’ posts and respond to at least two of your peers. In your responses, ask your fellow classmates some follow-up questions or provide suggestions. Continue to monitor the discussion forum until 5:00 p.m. MST on Day 7 of the week and respond to anyone who replies to your initial post.

Most of people engaging in online dating fabricate a very new persona to represent themselves (Ellison, Hancock, & Toma, 2011). Some use deception for smoothing out their value in respect to being potential socially interactive person, such as pretending to like a dater’s ponytail when in actual sense the match finder hates the hairstyle. In another perspective, many online daters practice the conceptualization and rationalization of discrepancies in self-presentation on online profiles mostly to accomplish certain psychological and social goals. For example, some online daters use deception as a strategy of attracting desirable potential partners. Some of the most common strategy used is lying of one’s age, uploading a picture of him or herself at younger age, lying about working in white color job when in fact the person does casual jobs, lying about residential area of living, among others.
