India is faced with multiple burdens of disease that have resulted in the death or morbidity of children and adolescents. According to the Hindu Report (2019), in 2018, India ranked second in pneumonia deaths of children below five years globally. The country came after Nigeria with 127,000 deaths and the high number is linked to the country’s poverty index (Hindu Report, 2019). For example, in most impoverished households, the number of deaths was five times higher than the affluent families.
